Sacket's Harbor War of 1812 Bicentennial Trail

Lu Engineers was retained by the Village of Sackets Harbor to complete a design plan and landscape architecture for a 5+ mile multi-use trail linking the Sackets Harbor Battlefield Historic Site with the Sackets Harbor Central School Campus, the Village Center and the Madison Barracks Historic Site.
The scope of work on this project includes trail related design, landscape architecture, archeology and administration, parking and entry sights, new trail base, 5+ miles of stone dust paved trail, construction of drainage culverts where needed, vehicle barriers, interpretive and historical signage along the trail, safety and directional signage.
The NYSOPRHP currently operates the Sackets Harbor Battlefield Historic Site. Close coordination with the NYSOPRHP was necessary to create a context-sensitive design for a multi-use trail through the many sensitive sites in Sackets Harbor. Specialized design measures are being incorporated into the design to avoid disturbance to sensitive cultural resources within and adjacent to the project alignment.
