Durand Beach Master Plan

Lu Engineers developed a Master Plan for improvements to Durand Eastman Park Beach required to support swimming in Lake Ontario. The plan, including cost estimates and an environmental impact assessment, will be used as a basis to determine the most feasible actions to open the beach on an ongoing basis, secure funding for implementation of the required water quality improvements and to guide subsequent design and construction. Water quality engineering solutions were explored to reduce levels of E. coli bacteria as the most critical step in providing a permanent swimming beach for the community.
Master Plan deliverables included site selection and schematic design of facilities and infrastructure, coastal engineering recommendations, cost estimates, phasing plan, environmental impact assessment (SEQR), and preliminary approvals by involved agencies.
