NYSDEC Environmental Restoration Program

Location: Clayton, NY
Owner:
Clayton Local Development Corporation

Lu Engineers performed a site assessment and comprehensive cleanup under the NYSDEC Environmental Restoration Program. Phase I of the project consisted of investigation to identify the horizontal and vertical extent of petroleum contamination on the site. After the investigation phase was complete, the Town obtained additional ERP funding to complete remedial measures (Phase II) for the site. A cleanup Work Plan was developed to address known impacted areas to satisfy established remedial action goals.

Lu Engineers prepared both NYSDEC and USEPA grants for this project successfully obtaining over $1,000,000 of funding this project. On-site tanks were proposed for removal in the application as part of an interim remedial measure (IRM), thereby streamlining the cleanup process and obtaining additional funding for building demolition. Approximately 20,000 tons of contaminated soil was removed. Lu Engineers trained local municipal forces to implement the remedial program and oversaw its successful completion. The site has been cleared by the NYSDEC for development.
