Lu Engineers conducted a wide variety of environmental work for this renovation project at the Fredrick Douglass Apartments along the downtown portion of West Main Street. During the investigation phase Lu Engineers conducted a phase I environmental site assessment, soil vapor intrusion sampling, a pre-renovation asbestos survey, an extensive mold evaluation along with overseeing a building-wide lead based paint inspection. Using data collected during the investigation phase of the project, Lu Engineers developed asbestos abatement design plans, lead abatement plans with special details regarding the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) concerns along with a sub slab depressurization system. During the renovation phase, Lu Engineers will be providing lead wipe clearance sampling.
