 The Environmental Excellence Awards from the
Federal Highway Administration are given to honor partners, projects,
and processes that excel in meeting growing transportation demands
while protecting and enhancing the natural and human environment.
This Honorable Mention for Wetlands, Water Quality, and Ecosystems is
in recognition of the Monroe County Department of Transportation, Lu
Engineers, and Nory Construction for their part in the widening and
reconstruction of Brighton-Henrietta Town Line Road in Monroe County,
New York. This multi-agency team cooperated with local residents to
design and create two retention ponds with innovative outfall
structures to improve water quality, enhance a degraded wetland, and
minimize the impacts of stormwater runoff on a nearby stream system. |
