pass-through projects to large multi-county studies to urban roadway
improvements, and interstate interchanges. This wide variety of projects has
given us valuable experience in areas of highway design such as traffic
analysis, signalization, storm water systems, right-of-way plans, lighting,
intersection/interchange configurations, horizontal and vertical roadway
geometrics, earthwork design, drainage, utility relocation design, and
pavement marking requirements.
Context Sensitive Design
Lu Engineers provides a thorough understanding of planning
responsibilities, citizen involvement techniques and the appropriate
environmental processes required to select transportation solutions before
final design. We maintain regular contact with the Army Corps of Engineers,
the Department of Environmental Protection, the Federal Highway
Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and other permitting
agencies. This contact enables our key personnel to develop excellent
working relationships with the many different entities involved in
administrating and reviewing projects. Lu Engineers’ knowledge of DOT
standards, regulations and procedures allows us to prepare the necessary
permit applications, designs, plans, specifications, and estimates for
transportation assignments.
Our professionals recognize the importance of interagency coordination
and community involvement in transportation planning. Traffic and
transportation planning projects can present especially sensitive challenges
with regards to public involvement. We use our technical expertise to
develop solutions to complex transportation problems. At the same time, we
use sound consensus building strategies to work with our clients toward high
public acceptance for these solutions.
